Today, the American soccer blogosphere comes together for a worthy cause. The TDA stands with The Shin Guardian and Jay Bell, who have created this top-notch tribute for US Soccer star Charlie Davies. CD9 is rehabbing from a serious car accident that left him at death’s door. Six months later, he’s proving doubters, doctors, and pretty much everyone else wrong who said his severe injuries would keep him from World Cup 2010.

TDA RELOADED: 2010 W-LEAGUE SCHEDULE DROPS

It’s finally here.

The 2010 W-League schedule has officially been announced and the Tony Danza Army is in for a big 2010. The undefeated, back-to-back champion Pali Blues now know their road to a historic three-peat, buoyed by the psychotic fan support of the TDA faithful. Without further adieu, here’s the program for 2010:

JUNE 5: The season opener. This is a “statement game” for the Blues and the Tony Danza Army We’ll be raising the championship banner and welcoming our new cross-town rival into the league, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat. Undefeated champions versus expansion team…this is gonna be a fun one with a lot of goals.

JUNE 17: The Blues get a real test with the Seattle Sounders coming to town. TDA members will remember these guys from the regular season finale last year, as Pali eliminated the poor girls from playoff contention. They’ll be looking for revenge and we’ll be looking to rub a little more salt into the wound.

JUNE 19: I hate to miss this one, since it has patriotism written all over it. Vancouver brings their Canuckistan women to town in an epic USA vs. Canada encounter. National pride is on the line and good taste is nowhere to be found.

JULY 1: Maybe the highlight of the season. The Colrado Force is back, including coach Craig Deacon. TDA and Pali diehards will remember the famous playoff victory of 2009, when an inspired Blues team dramatically clawed back into the game and emphatically defeated the Force, 5-2. Pali went on to win the league title, management proclaimed it the best home game ever, and Craig returned home with broken dreams.

JULY 5 (ROAD TRIP): It’s a bonus game and a W-League first! The front office has graciously proposed to bus TDA members to Santa Clarita for this all-important rivalry game. The Tony Danza Army has made Pali High a fortress for the Blues, but it’s now time to take over an opposing team’s venue.

JULY 17: Pali hosts the Rush in the regular season finale. This team is probably our closest competition and the game might decide who wins the Western Conference. It’s time to roll deep, boys.

MARCH 2007: A group of red-clad crazies welcomed Toronto FC into MLS. The unparalleled fan support taught MLS fans to raise the bar at their respective clubs.

MARCH 2009: The boys in rave green take U.S. soccer to a new level. Sounders FC becomes ground zero for American soccer atmosphere. We get a glimpse of what the sport can be in this country.

JUNE 2009: A MOVEMENT IS BORN

Tony Danza Army begins to form at Pali Blues games. They sing, stand, and raise hell for 90 minutes, showing women’s soccer something it’s never seen. The crowd loves it. Management loves it. The league fears it. Opponents fold under it. Pali feeds on it.

One season later, we’re USL champions again and reloading for a big 2010. If you’re in LA, join up with us for the next step in the American soccer revolution. And you thought this was just a big league thing…

The TDA is conquering media outlets like they had nuclear weapons. Check the group’s new YouTube channel (TDArmy) and it’s very first video, “Blue Tomorrow”. It pretty much condenses all of the Pali Blues ass-kickings of the past two years into one short film, kind of like an episode of Walker: Texas Ranger with only roundhouse kicks. Enjoy, Fanzas!

Who we are, What we do, Why we do it

We are the Tony Danza Army, the world’s most famous women’s soccer supporters club.

We support the Pali Blues, a USL W-League side who has won the league championship in both years of their existence. While going undefeated, the Blues have been buoyed time and again by their crazed, hardcore fans that give them a considerable home advantage. Opposing teams come to Pali High with high hopes of an upset, but leave utterly shaken and intimidated by the Tony Danza Army. For 90 minutes, we stand, chant, raise banners, swing flags, and hurl general abuse behind the visiting bench while tirelessly urging Pali on. Semiprofessional women’s soccer is not known for its atmosphere, but the TDA is changing that by turning Temescal Road into a veritable fortress every match.

Since its inception, our group has recieved acclaim on top soccer blogs and praise from several USL coaches. But there’s more to the Tony Danza Army than that. Ultimately, we’re a group of amiable young guys and gals who like to have a good time and enjoy a sporting event. Yes, we’re loud. Yes, we get a little wild. Yes, we will berate you if you play against the Blues or sully the name of our glorious city. However, we’re also characterized as a friendly group by coaches, players, staff, and other fans alike. We don’t condone violence, racism, or any unlawful behavior that typically defines “hooliganism”. Instead, we will show up every home game, rain or shine, and cheer our lungs out until Pali emerges victorious. We have a blast and are currently making plans for the 2010 season, so join us this summer at Pali High for a fan experience like you’ve never imagined.
